About

There’s only so much you can learn about a person from a webpage, but here’s a thumbnail sketch…

About what I do

I formed Thornton Wealth Management in 2006 because I was frustrated with the ego and hype that abounded throughout most of the financial services industry, particularly on Wall Street. To me, the traditional financial planning models were broken, as they focused more on playing the market than actually meeting client’s needs.

In 2009, I combined my firm with Wealthcare Capital Management (WCM), an SEC registered investment advisory firm. WCM will provide additional support and resources that I can utilize to best serve my clients.

Bottom line: I wanted to do things differently.

I guess my approach could be called ‘revolutionary’, though I don’t consider myself to be a revolutionary guy. I’m just someone who knows about sustainable financial and wealth management strategies, and who wants to share that knowledge with decent, hard-working people.

Most of my new clients come to me via referral from existing clients, and I think that says more about me and what I do than most else.

About me and mine

Seeing as I’ll be getting to know your family and life priorities, it only seems fair I tell you a little about mine.

My family is me, my wife Elizabeth and our two mutt shelter dogs Abby and Gracie.

My absolute favorite pastime is relaxing with my family – if I can do that while outdoors, camping or hiking, all the better. We love our time together and we also like to live comfortably, so we manage our finances to balance those two desires. We live within our means and yes, we clip coupons. We have a nice home and practical, rather than flashy, cars. We treasure our annual family vacation at the beach (with the dogs of course!), and Elizabeth and I enjoy traveling further afield when we have the time.

These are the choices we make, and I know every family is different. Whatever your financial goals (whether it’s buying a red sports car, sending the kids to college, or retiring early to write your novel), we can work together to make it happen.

The formalities
